When I left school I studied catering for two years and worked in a hotel as a chef but my dream job at that time was to be a Home Economics teacher. After I had my children I decided I would like to work with children so I went back to college to do a diploma In Early Years Childcare and Education.
You probably know that I love cooking but I am also an animal lover. People call me the cat lady as I have FIVE cats (and a lovely Labrador called Olly – named after Olly Murs of course!)

I joined the YCP in July 2021. I have worked in a variety of community roles within the charity sector as well as being a volunteer for a wide range of programmes - from being a research assistant in the Amazon rainforest working with primates, volunteering at an orphanage in Uganda to my most recent experience of being a volunteer mentor where I was matched with a vulnerable young person. Being a mentor has been one of my most rewarding experiences so far and I am privileged to be in the position of recruiting and supporting a team of passionate volunteers who make a positive difference to the lives of young carers and vice versa!
I love travelling, walking my dog ‘Walnut’, spending time with family and am a big Joe Wicks fan!

Hi, I joined the YCP team in April 2024 as a support worker.
I have 21 years experience working in education and I love to support children to attain their full potential. This role allows me to help the young carers to enjoy being a child.
I am a mum of three grown up children and love to cycle and
walk my dogs.

Some of you may remember me, as I have previously worked for KCN supporting both adult carers and young carers and their families. I stopped working to care for my mum when she was diagnosed with dementia. During this time I also went back to college to study for Level 2 & 3 qualifications in Counselling Skills but decided I wanted to support people as a support worker, especially through a whole family approach.
I work with YCP part time and split my time between working with individual young carers and their families and with small groups of young carers, focussing on improving and maintaining resilience and wellbeing.
My last job was working as Outdoor Learning Project Lead in a primary school,
facilitating a lot of gardening and eco groups and I enjoy incorporating the great outdoors and natural world in my work with young carers.
